This time last year I was planning on doing an Ironman in 2009. Stuart was signing up for IM Florida in November '08, and I wanted that one extra year to prep for my own Ironman experience. Here we are....registration is open and will probably be closed by week's end. Why Louisville? A friend is trying to convince me to do IM Switzerland with her next summer (sorry, Andrea!). And Stuart and Julie have or will have both done Florida - a flat course which plays to my strength...or my weakness the hills. But, Louisville isn't that far from Ohio. Multiple family and friends within a 200mile radius don't guarantee, but definitely up the odds of a goodly-sized cheering crew. It'll be hot, and the bike will be hilly, but it appeals to me.
And yet, there are so many reasons to wait until '10 (or beyond). First and foremost is knowing that my leg is not prepared for the rigors of marathon training. Heck, I can't do more than 5miles or an hour without some serious problems. Second, other stuff that we might have on our plates personally and professionally mean that the timing might not be ideal.
But since nothing has come to fruition, it's hard to sit here and see DC Tri Clubbers and Trifuelers celebrating that they've got their slots. I'm strong though....step away from the "register" button!!!

I probably shouldn't say this.. .but DO IT! I'll come watch you - I promise. I read your whole blog and I am amazed at what you guys do. I'm so proud of you... for so many reasons. Love you so much my friend.
