My "comeback race" is now less than a month away, the Zooma 10K in Annapolis. A year ago, I was daunted by the concept of potentially training for a 50K endurance race with Star. Now, after 9-1/2months of pregnancy, 4wks of bedrest, and 8wks of post-birth recovery, a 10K seems like just as momentous of a hurdle.
The second piece of this is that my goal is to actually increase my normal running speed. I realized that if I'm starting from scratch in building fitness, I might as well make those run intervals at a faster pace - with the goal of coming back with a 9min/mi instead of a 10 or 11min/mi pace. We'll see if it works, but for now I'm enjoying it.
Stuart is committed to helping me get my fitness back and drop these stupid pounds. So Mother's Day was a lot of fun around here. My gift -- a TREADMILL -- should be delivered this week. And, Riley and I had a wonderful run together that day. Not sure when a triathlon will fit into my season, but it will. Somehow.

You can do it my friend! I have complete faith in you. There is nothing wrong with run/walk
And, I LOVE LOVE that photo of you and Riley. She is the cutest peanut and you are just gloriously glowing! Beautiful! :)
Most importantly, you are having fun together!
(And don't worry...there are more 50k's to be had!).
After 2 seasons, I am still using the Galloway system to figure out how to run.
It good to hear you have a race to look forward to
Hang in there! It takes time to become a Mommy and time to recover from what it does to your body. But no worries... it will come back to you. Just remember to enjoy it!
Yay! Congrats on the new treadmill. When we ditched our old treadmill, which was powered by the "Flintstone method" and replaced it with a new one with a balanced drum, the "dreadmill"'s reputation climbed up one, (yes, just one) notch. Have fun with your training! Kudos to you. It's freakin' hard getting back out there after a long spell away! Oh, and I love that photo of you & Riley. VERY cute.
